Step-by-Step Guide

Traditionally judges were trained on individual breeds one by one but it has been recognised that this approach is no longer viable. A new judge training programme has been designed to meet the needs of today’s cat fancy. It will speed up the training process and give the GCCF new judges whilst still providing the high level training expected for a GCCF judge.

Learn how to become a GCCF Judge step-by-step in this guide and begin your journey to become a GCCF Judge.

Step 1: Becoming a GCCF Steward

Before you start any training to become a GCCF Judge the first thing you need to do is to become a qualified GCCF Steward.

Step 2: Becoming a GCCF Student Judge

After becoming a qualified GCCF Steward the next stage on your path to becoming a GCCF Judge is to become a Student Judge. Check out the guide that explains the criteria needed to apply and how you will work through the new judge training programme.

Step 3a: Becoming a GCCF Specialist Breed Judge (Provisional)

It is recognised that some candidates will only wish to judge a single breed. This is the pathway that those wishing to judge only one breed catered for by a JPG should take.

Step 3b: Becoming a GCCF Junior Judge

Training to become a full judge within your chosen Imperial/Grand group will help you to speed up the training process needed to become a GCCF Full Judge.

Step 4: Becoming a GCCF Full Judge

After completing your training and becoming a full judge you now have the option of continuing your training and become a judge of other breeds.
